Origin: 2.97 Designing for People
Task: Use a space of 22’ x 40’ in Harvard square and create a restaurant with a new user experience and advanced technology.
Approach:
There are a lot of food restaurants in Harvard Square already, and it would be nice to have a dessert after finishing the meal. Frozen Yogurt is really popular in the west coast; however, I can’t find one near Harvard Square, so it would be a good idea to have a frozen yogurt restaurant in Harvard Square. Having frozen yogurt is supposed to be a fun activity, but normal frozen yogurt restaurants don’t have a creative user experience. People just go inside, order, wait for the order, and eat the frozen yogurt. If we can combine new technology into the new restaurant and make eating frozen yogurt a fun activity, then it would make more customers want to come and enjoy frozen yogurt.
New Technology:
Noribo is a new technology used to replace conveyor belt sushi delivering. It is a small and endearing robot that can follow a black line on a flat surface and deliver plates around the restaurant. It can also detect if a plate is removed from the robot or not. In the new restaurant, we can use Noribo robots to deliver frozen yogurt. It would be a fun and engaging way for people to have frozen yogurt.
Design Feature:
It will be located in Harvard square with a huge wall of glass, so people can eat frozen yogurt while enjoying Harvard square. The capacity will be 27 people. The main focus of this restaurant is the Noribo robot used to distribute frozen yogurt to customers. The restaurant is bar style, so that people can come in, order frozen yogurt, pay on the robot, enjoy frozen yogurt, and leave quickly.
Frobot Foamcore prototype
I used foamcore to 3D model the restaurant.
